Over the past several years, the vacation industry has been through some
enormous changes. The ever-evolving internet has provided the consumer with
not only an alternative means to research and book a holiday; it has opened
the minds of consumers world-wide to the vast array of options available for
the spending of their precious vacation time and money.
New niche markets
have opened up and many different segments within the travel industry now
find themselves competing for the same dollars on what are often very uneven
levels. While travel agents have not yet gone the way of the dodo bird,
their numbers have certainly contracted under pressures of direct consumer
activism and substantial changes in the way the airlines do business. And
with each passing year, the increasing pervasiveness of the internet
continues to shrink the world around us, making it easier for individuals to
tailor their vacation experiences to suit their own desires.
With these thoughts in mind, we recognize that our customers may not want to
take a ski holiday at Whistler each and every year; nor will they likely
want to take a Caribbean cruise or a Mexican Riviera holiday every year. The
vacation industry, while local in nature, is global in scope and today's
consumer has many interests.
We have found the following links to be
worthwhile for one reason or another and know that some will be of interest
to our customers. Most, if not all of these, have nothing to do with
Whistler - those links most relevant to our resort can be found throughout
our website depending on the subject matter. Some of the links that follow
pertain to the ski industry while others reference pages throughout the
travel industry in general. Some are simply neat websites.
